September
1, 2010
That’s right – it’s September. 42
days till Early Voting starts.
A
big thank-you to the volunteers who came out Sunday for Dan Patlak’s Signs
& Literature Assembly day.
Thousands of signs were set up and campaign cards counted and bundled –
goal met!
Thanks,
too, to Bill Howe for stripping and rewaxing our floors at HQ.
This
Sunday, Sept. 5,
we’ll be walking in Buffalo Grove’s Labor
Day parade along with
the Bill Brady bus. Join us (in your navy-blue ROWT t-shirt)
at 12:30, Unit #
40, Indian Hill & Bernard. Dan Patlak has asked that our walkers carry
his signs, and we’ll be carrying signs for other GOP candidates as well.
Come out and show your GOP
colors!
On
Saturday, Sept. 11, join us for our commemoration of September the 11th,
which none of us will ever forget. That’s the date of our next regular
meeting of precinct captains, members and friends of Republicans of Wheeling
Township, and in addition to a fitting observance, we’ll be presenting
some of our candidates. Bill
Brady has been invited, and we know that Dan
Patlak (Bd. of [Tax] Review) and Paul
Chialdikas (Water Reclamation Dist.) will speak; several other
county candidates (such as Frederick Collins for sheriff, Angel
Garcia for county clerk) are likely to be with us. Other
candidates will send campaign updates to keep us aware of the challenge and
opportunity before us. It’s at 8:30
a.m. here at HQ.
Put it on your calendar now and plan to be with us and bring friends.
Sunday,
Sept. 12,
is “meet-and-greet” day, with such events being hosted for Robert
Dold and other GOP candidates by John Dyslin and Ron & Jan
Joy. The Joys’ open house will be from 3
to 6 p.m., 1220
N. Kennicott, Arlington Heights. Then on to John’s from 5
to 7 p.m. at the Old
Orchard Townhomes clubhouse, 801 Butternut Lane, Mt.
Prospect (come in off Schoenbeck). No RSVP needed for either;
bring your friends.
Call
me by this Saturday, Sept. 4,
if you want the ROWT discount tickets ($67) for RightNation2010,
Saturday, Sept. 18,
at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. Besides Glenn
Beck, the rally features Andrew
Breitbart, Cong. Aaron Schock, the Wall
Street Journal’s John Fund and many more,
including celebrities from the entertainment world.
We’re
looking for volunteers to take charge of precincts for the next 64 days.
And friends who will walk neighborhoods on an ad hoc basis. And others who
will help us keep the HQ open.
Starting next Tuesday, we’d like to keep the doors open, the lights on and
the phones answered throughout the week until after the election.
Availability
here and outreach in the precincts are the keys to victory.
Let’s not leave this election to chance! Our
candidates are counting on Wheeling to make the difference in
statewide, countywide and local races.
Faithfully,
Ruth O’Connell

One
conservative makes a difference with sample ballots and party building
Wheeling Township GOP Committeeman Ruth O'Connell had
the troops out Wednesday afternoon, preparing literature bags for
precinct captains to deliver to area Republican voters over
the next two weekends. For O'Connell, these efforts are the meat
and potatoes of a local political organization. Getting info
to voters is crucial.
O'Connell is one of Cook County GOP's brightest stars, known for
understanding and implementing the basics of building a Republican
organization street by street, precinct by precinct. Letting
voters know about the candidates is hard work, even in a day of internet
and mass publishing. O'Connell's face-to-face contact has produced
one of Cook County's liveliest and most influential Republican organizations.
