January 18, 2012 - 10-1/2 months to go!
We're just about finished with our endorsements for the primary. Our precinct captains voted Saturday to endorse Congressman Joe Walsh in the 8th Congressional District and Tim Wolfe, candidate for Congress in the 9th District, as well as James Pieczonka, our candidate for Judge in the 12th Subcircuit. We endorsed Marty Kelleyfor Judge in one of the two 13th-Subcircuit vacancies. Congratulations to all these fine candidates!
I need to "poll" the precinct captains on two more potential endorsements and will inform you as soon as the captains have cast their votes by phone; we couldn't do it Saturday, and I don't want to wait for another meeting.
It was good to see so many friends at our meeting Saturday, and I appreciate the spirit of unity which continues to be apparent in our organization.
Lincoln Day $
Now we need to replenish our treasury by selling ads for the Lincoln Day Dinner adbook. The Schaumburg Township organization is getting ahead of us, so please step up your efforts to ask your hairdresser, your insurance agent, your favorite florist or restaurant -- any local business you patronize or Republican friend you know -- to take out an ad to support our 2012 efforts. The prices vary by size and placement; we have a form here to aid you. You might consider participating yourself with a patron listing for only $25. What we sell here comes back to Republicans of Wheeling Township, so please give it your all!

Tim Wolfe
Our newly endorsed 9th District Congressional candidate, Tim Wolfe, is seeking volunteers. Contact him at 847/834-4157.
Bob Dold
The Journal-Topics newspapers featured an extensive interview with 10th District Cong. Bob Dold in last Friday's edition. So glad the map hasn't taken him away from us altogether! The 10th District still come through Wheeling Township on the northeast and east sides. Bob has no primary opponent, but his re-election is expected to be challenging in the new district, which takes in significantly more Democrats in northern Lake County.
Join me in wishing speedy recovery to precinct captain Larry Gillreath, who is ill, and also to his wife, who is hospitalized. (What a way to start the year!) Get well soon!
And join me in welcoming new precinct captains Roberta Updyke and Ben Nelson.
Faithfully,
Ruth O’Connell
